Karma Yogi Ratilal - Preface

Preface

Since my childhood, I have always heard about life of my Grand father, Ratilal Jani. Have always seen people talking about his terrific past and the way he has led his life. One day, while speaking to him, I asked him if he had a message for Young guns of our family. His message fascinated me. Later, I took courage to ask him about his recollections so that I could pen them down before they were buried under the sands of time.

At present he is 92 years of age. It’s very difficult for him to now recollect certain scenes of his own life. The conversation with him and the information he provided was not always easy to follow, but always fresh and stimulating. It took me days to organize each and every moment of his life in one pattern. It was difficult but challenging enough to rejuvenate my sleeping caliber within.

This book is written for my family members and generation to come here after. It would be so beneficial for the generations to come and know how legend their forefathers have been, how fascinating their personal stories have been and indeed it would also better to let them know what they accomplished in their life time.

For myself, writing this book has been absolute pilgrimage. It feels as if I am into another world. I may not have included all incidents among many narrated by my Grand Pa and others. I am solely responsible for such things, which are completely unintentional.

કમાલ કરે છે

Something for Ba-Dada / Kaka-kakis /Papa - mummies....

Permanent Residency

Today i (Hitarth) have achieved what i desired since i came to Australia. Yes, you guessed it right - I have got my permanent residency here in Australia. I had been trying for it since 1 year now. Yes, you heard it right. I was struggling to get my permanent residency since 1 year now. It is rightly said "Setting goals is easy. Achieving them is something different".

I am perhaps first person in my family to go abroad and achieve something like this. Last one year was really a tough task for me to handle. Away from parents, struggling to get a good job and than this Permanent Residency things coming up was difficult to handle at same time. But some how i was able to cope up with such a tough time. My mental toughness proved once again to be beneficial in gaining what i always wanted. It really helped me to minimize the effects of discouragement and turn negatives into positives.

Jack Black, in his illuminating book "MindStore", uses a computer expression to combat negativity - "Delete that Programme".
Whenever a negative thought used to come in my mind or when others make negative comments, I just used to say myself, "Delete that Programme" and used to replace it with a positive thought.

Admittedly, negative mental habits are hard to break. And i have experienced that thing in past. It surely takes time and persistence but rewards you when you really do it. Achieving goals becomes a reality.

"Always make your goals happen" - this is the thought i always carry with myself in my mind and it really helps to motivate myself when i am down with negativity. And offcourse motivation always comes from inside your heart. Without self motivation you will not achieve your goals. As the saying goes, "if it's to be it's down to me". And i had solid backbone with me - my family who always supported me in everything i did since past few years.

Today i have reached my goal. Have achieved what i had always desired. I have achieved it in a style. I have reached at a position where no other Jani family member has ever reached. I am proud of my parents and my family. Now i want to enjoy this moment back home with my parents, sister and other family members. And this part of my life is what i call happYness. But still Miles to go before i sleep, Miles to go before i sleep.....

!! Happy Father's Day !!

Father's Day is a day of commemoration and celebration of Dad. It is a day to not only honor your father, but all men who have acted as a father figure in your life - whether as Stepfathers, Uncles, Grandfathers, or "Big Brothers.

A Tribute to all Fathers in the world on this father's day.

What Makes A Dad

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it ... Dad

Author is unknown

DADDY,
If all these Kisses aren't enough,
There's two hands to help with garden stuff.
If all these hugs don't work their charm,
There's two arms to help keep you warm.
If this gift doesn't show how much we care,
We have REAL hugs & kisses to share!

Mother

A gift to all Mothers of the World. This Poetry is specially written by me for my Mother. Will like to share with you all.

Wherever you may be,
Whatever you may be,
You will always be within me.

Whether it may be day or night,
Whether it may be dark or bright,
You will always be within me.

Holding your hand, I learned to walk,
Have seen the world through your eyes.
Beneath the shade of your care,
I have enjoyed all my days.

Your ways to make me happy
And to make me smile,
Your small and special acts
Has always given me reason to survive.

Your love and concern
Has always boosted energy in me.
Your guidelines has always
Added confidence in me.

Your views were base of my vision
Your support was the foundation of my life.

I am honoured and thankful to the God,
For being having you as my MOTHER

Who will always be there,
Within me in my inner-self.

The Legacy

Activities like imparting knowledge, instructing and education has been motto of my Grandfather all his life. Being only source of income in those days, still he managed to give proper education to his Sons and Daughters (All together 7 of them), to make them see beautiful colours of life as an Engineer, Chartered Accountant and as efficient Banker.

Coming back to present generation, that legacy of our family is still in our genes. Although, a person is a student all his life, Year - 2006 has been phenomenal in terms of Academic Achievements by Young Guns of our family. I will go in chronological order and reveal those achievements in present year.

Kosha Nilesh Jani - Passed her S.S.C.E board exams with 78% Aggregate marks. She has managed to get admission in Science stream and Proving her quality skills.

Vidhi Harish Jani - Passed her Bsc (Home Science) degree with A grade. She has managed to get admission in Master of Journalism from ICFAI.

Disha Nilesh Jani - Passed her B.A. (Fine Arts) degree with Second class. She is now engaged with her Paintings and working with her Seniors.

Hitarth Harish Jani - Passed his M.I.T (Information Technology) degree with Credit. Now a days he is busy with filing Permanent Residency for Australia.

Dhiman Pankaj Jani - Presently Working with HSBC as a Software analyst and most eligible bachelor in our family was on 3 months tour of Riyadh to deploy a software project for his client company in Saudi Arabia. One more feather to be added this tour fetched him with a promotion to the position of Software Engineer.

Congratulations, to all of you!! Have a great life ahead and always maintain that legacy of ours!!

The Long Lasting Link!!!

Brief Description:
Before i proceed further i would like to point out something about the poem in this post. This was written for my parents on their 25th Wedding Anniversary. Unfortunately, i was away on that occassion which was celebrated with a big party in Hotel Sayaji.

This is the poem of my life. It is finest of my creation and very dear to me. Hope readers would enjoy it. If you are away from your parents and dear ones, this is the perfect dose for you.

Here it comes, The Long Lasting Link!!!

When I was a Child,
I felt a little different from all the others,
I knew there was something Greatest and most Valuable thing in my life,
as I had one of the Worlds finest and Greatest Parents.

And in truth, that's how it was for me growing up,
Nursery, school years, graduation and Now a New Venture,
You were always there for me,
and I'm certainly Proud of It.

I remember it was 5th May 2000, within few Seconds Worlds doors were closed for me,
But One man was Standing Rock Steady Behind Me,
Having a great faith in me and saying: " You can Do It"
It was You and only You.

And ever since that moment,
I have felt truly complete,
and that's a hard feeling to explain,
but it's one I know that's hard to beat.

And every cloud has a silver lining,
and in my case, i have two,
because I also have a sweet little Sister ,
and Shanky, I'm very proud of you as well.

Now i know that Life isn't always that easy,
and things dont always go as you would have planned,
sometimes there's neither rhyme nor reason,
and sometimes all you can do is "Just Do It"!!!

And mere distance may separate us,
mere distance keep us apart,
just know that you're forever in my thoughts,
and yes, we're joined together at the heart.

And I'm sorry I can't be there today,
I know that you'll forgive my absence,
because Forgiveness, Compassion and Humbleness are the qualities
that you've never lacked.

So, Happy 25th Wedding Anniversary, Dearest Mom and Dad,
that's really what these words are for,
I'm glad that we are a Long-Lasting link,
just know that I'll love you for evermore!!!

Motu Ghar!!

This is the place where every present generation jani family member has his/her memories attached with. We call it "Motu Ghar" as it belongs to dadaji..

I remember those summer vacations when we all cousins used to come together and make havoc in whole society :-)

I remember those cool nights of "Thappo" and "Pakda-pakdi" where we used to make deepan's piddodi :-)

It is still the same.. nothing's changed!!! Still Sun rises in the east and gives its first rays in the verandah and dining room!!! Still that "limbudi" at the back creates that haunting effect in the night :-) !!!

Cheers guys,
Missing You all..

How do we behave with our parents!!!!!!!!!!

This is a very touchy one!!! Thought of sharing with you all!!!
An 80 year old man was sitting on the sofa in his house along
with his 45 years old highly educated son. Suddenly a crow
perched on their window.

The Father asked his Son, "What is this?"

The Son replied "It is a crow".

After a few minutes, the Father asked his Son the 2nd time,
"What is this?"

The Son said "Father, I have just now told you "It's a crow".

After a little while, the old Father again asked his Son the
3rd time, What is this?"

At this time some ex-pression of irritation was felt in the
Son's tone when he said to his Father with a rebuff.
"It's a crow, a crow".

A little after, the Father again asked his Son t he 4th time,
"What is this?"

This time the Son shouted at his Father, "Why do you keep
asking me the same question again and again, although I have
told you so many times ' IT IS A CROW '.
Are you not able to understand this?"

A little later the Father went to his room and came back
with an old tattered diary, which he had maintained
since his Son was born. On opening a page, he asked his
Son to read that page. When the son read it, the
following words were written in the diary :-

"Today my little son aged three was sitting with me on the
sofa, when a crow was sitting on the window. My Son asked
me 23 times what it was, and I replied to him all 23 times
that it was a Crow. I hugged him lovingly each
time h e asked me the same question again and again for
23 times. I did not at all feel irritated I rather felt
affection for my innocent child".

While the little child asked him 23 times "What is this",
the Father had felt no irritation in replying to the same
question all 23 times and when today the Father asked his
Son the same question just 4 times, the Son felt
irritated and annoyed.

So..

If your parents attain old age, do not repulse them or
look at them as a burden, but speak to them a gracious
word, be cool, obedient, humble and kind to them.
Be considerate to your parents. From today say this aloud,
"I want to see my parents happy forever. They have cared
for me ever since I was a little child. They have always
showered their selfless love on me.
They crossed all mountains and valleys without seeing
the storm and heat to make me a person presentable in
the society today".

Say a prayer to God,
"I will serve my old parents in the BEST way. I will
say all good and kind words to my dear parents,
no matter how they behave".
